This major prepares students to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot small enterprise routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a wide area network (WAN). Students will perform desktop client administration and maintenance and provide support for users in various work environments, including professional offices, small businesses, work groups, departments, and/or corporate information services (IS). Students are introduced to wireless networking concepts and security prevention measures.

Student demonstrates the skills required for entry-level network support positions - the starting point for many successful careers in networking.  

Technologies covered include Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Cisco IOS, IPv6, OSPF, VLANs, ACLs, WLAN, LAN, and WAN

Job roles include Entry-level Network Engineers, Help Desks, Network Administrators

Students in this major gain the technical skills required for Cisco Certified Network Entry Technician, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network

Depending on the capstone chosen the student can also be ready for one of the following

Security+, Storage+, Cloud+ or Healthcare IT Technician.
