Enrollment options

Nursing Clinical III consists of 232 hours of advanced medical surgical nursing, and allows the student to assimilate information learned in previous levels of instruction while continuing to build on skills such as therapeutic communication, assessment, and medication administration. In addition, students will also learn to assess the clients with a higher acuity of needs. Students will also continue to build on skills for venous access, and wound care and documenting appropriately.  Students will continue to Identify problems and contribute to the nursing process. Specialty rotations may also be utilized to augment learning as available.

Also included in Clinical Nurse III is maternal/child and pediatrics, in which the student incorporates all threads learned during previous levels together. Students will master caring for maternal/child, and pediatric clients as well as demonstrate the ability to provide care for clients experiencing coping and or mental health issues. The student will continue to utilize therapeutic communication, assessment, documentation, and organizational skills. Students will continue to master previous nursing skills. Application of theory in the clinical setting will be demonstrated through the continued development of critical thinking skills
